As you may know, in June 2023, Rabbi Barbara Penzner retired after 28 years of serving HBT. We are honored to have her continue on as Rabbi Emerita. After a transition year with Interim Rabbi Sarah Noyovitz we are thrilled to welcome Rabbi Aliza Schwartz as our settled rabbi. Rabbi Aliza comes with much experience working in Jewish social justice organizations in the Boston area. For the past two years she was the Cooperberg-Rittmaster Rabbinical Intern at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah in NYC culminating with her ordination this past May by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.
Over the past many months, it has become clear to me what a profoundly special community HBT is, and I am so excited to build together, pray together, act in the world together, learn together, and be with one another. -Rabbi Aliza

Our goal is to be welcoming and egalitarian. We are creating a Jewish home for all—a home for multi-racial families, interfaith families, and those who identify as LGBTQ. We commit to full inclusion for people with disabilities.
HBT is a haimish (Yiddish word for cozy and homey) community. We are rooted in Jewish tradition while responsive to the world. Our members engage in the creative process of bringing new perspectives to our practices. Together, we make tradition meaningful.
