SPEAKER ON BALLOT QUESTION ONE

Rev. Vernon Walker - Safe Patient Limits

This November, Massachusetts voters will be voting on a ballot question to set specific limits on how many patients nurses can care for in hospitals and other clinical settings. This ballot question presents complex issues, with groups on both sides advocating that their position best serves the goal of optimizing patient care and access. We invite our community to come and learn about this issue, and to share their perspectives and concerns this Shabbat, September 1st. We will have Reverend Vernon Walker, a spiritual leader and activist working on behalf of the Massachusetts Nurses Association to pass this ballot initiative , as our guest speaker. Rev. Walker is active in the Poor People's Campaign, and is a case manager at the Boston Rescue Mission and at Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Donna Kelly-Williams, a registered nurse and president of the MNA, will be on hand to answer questions as well.
