At Temple Hillel Bnai Torah, 120 Corey Street, West Roxbury
Joining together with Rabbi Toba Spitzer and Congregation Dorshei Tzedek, we begin our journey into the Aseret Yamei Teshuvah, the Ten Days of Turning, with a Selichot program including:
8:00pm Havdallah, dessert and schmoozing
8:25pm Spiritual & Social Repair – Atonement and Reparations: Rabbi Toba will lead a study session exploring Biblical models of sin and atonement as a way into contemporary conversations about the legacy of slavery and racism in America today. How might the ancient Yom Kippur rituals described in the Torah, and other priestly rituals, help us collectively atone and make amends for the profound damage done to native and African peoples in the building of our nation?
9:30pm Music and meditations for teshuvah, “turning/return”
Rabbi Barbara Penzner and HBT member Tracy Rich will lead a contemplative Selichot service, featuring chant and meditation, to help us begin our journey of teshuvah.
