First night of Hanukkah - Thursday, Dec. 10 - Gordon-Mallory Family
Happy Hanukkah HBT Community! As our 3 children—Gavriela, Ayden, and Ben–were growing up and still at home, we celebrated Hanukkah with a family or family and friend activity and meal. One of our favorite activities was Kirigami—or Japanese paper cutting. Please join us for Candle lighting and a family Kirigami activity on the first night of Hanukkah. We will be cutting out simple flowers and snowflakes. Supplies needed to join in the activity are Scissors, pencils, and origami paper are (paper is available for pick up at the temple). Looking forward to celebrating with you!!

Fourth night of Hanukkah - Sunday, Dec. 13 - A Beatles Hanukkah sing along with Cantor Jeff Klepper
Who doesn’t love Hanukkah, and who doesn’t love the Beatles? So…let’s take the fourth night of Hanukkah to celebrate the enduring musical legacy of the Fab Foursome! After lighting the Hanukiah, I’ll lead you in a selection of some great Hanukkah Beatle parodies that I’ve collected over the years. They’re charming and cheeky, just like the mop-tops themselves. Fun for the whole family! Be sure to have your song sheets ready to join in the singing.
Fifth night of Hanukkah - Monday, Dec. 14 - Julie Tishler, Ed, Jonah, & Ezra Levy
For the last 4 years, the Tishler Levy family has gone to a Vermont Family Camp in December where they spend lots of time outdoors, drink hot chocolate and play games (thank you Stolow Family! ). This year will be no Family Camp but we CAN recreate some fun family games ala Minute to Win it Style for our HBT Community Candlelighting.
What you will need:
A cookie for each participant
A stack of post it notes
A fruit or vegetable (roundish) that you don’t mind rolling on the floor
15 plastic cups, preferably all the same size

All ages welcome and we will figure out how to “compete” (prize: bragging rights) either within or between families depending on turnout

Seventh night of Hanukkah - Wednesday, Dec. 16 - Morah Maddy & Moreh Jon
A modern day Hanukkah story - who is fighting against oppression today, how can we take action today against oppression, like the Macabees.
Eighth night of Hanukkah - Thursday, Dec. 17 - Mark, Rachel, Eli & Ava Nenner-Payton
5 years ago, our family wanted to bring more light and love to our community. Each year since then with the help of the extraordinary artist Lillian Graham and the support of our temple community and the Roslindale Village Main Street Association we have gathered in Adams Park in Roslindale square. Rabbi Penzner has led us in song, prayer, and the lighting of Hanukiah (menorah).
Unfortunately, we cannot all gather in person as we have in the past, but we can keep this beautiful tradition going. Please join our family on zoom in lighting your own Menorah at home.
Our deepest wish is that we can all gather in person next year to celebrate the miracle of light.
