Reproductive Freedom and the Fight for Religious Liberty
Rabbi Elyse Wechterman, Executive Director of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association (RRA), will join us for Shabbat morning, February 13 to discuss Jewish teaching on abortion access and reproductive freedom. We will explore texts from our tradition and see that the argument over abortion is really one of religious freedom that Jews cannot ignore.
Rabbi Wechterman's visit is a part of "Repro Shabbat," sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women. Repro Shabbat is an opportunity for congregations, organizations, and communities to celebrate the critical importance of reproductive health access, reproductive rights, and reproductive justice, and to learn more about Judaism’s approach to these issues. For more information, check the Repro Shabbat website here.
Rabbi Elyse Wechterman graduated from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2000. Before becoming the Executive Director of the RRA, she served as the spiritual leader for Congregation Agudas Achim in Attleboro, MA from 2001 - 2015. Rabbi Wechterman lives in Abington, PA with her husband David and is the mother of two children.
