As the Children of Israel gather around Mt. Sinai for the revelatory experience that is the foundation of Torah and community, our portion raises some interesting questions about connections.
How does this event ground the connection between the People of Israel and Divinity?
How does Torah connect us to one another and create community?
Please prepare by reading Yitro, Exodus 18:1 - 20:22.
Each chapter has something to teach about creating connections, from the arrival of Moses' father-in-law Jethro to the admonitions for the people to refrain from approaching the mountain, to the Israelites hearing the overwhelming voice/message of the divine.
We will delve into a few commentaries and share our own experiences of how connections are made and sustained. Please be sure to have your own translation on hand for the zoom meeting.
Join at 9:45am with tallit and kippah (as you choose) for 15 minutes of waking up body and spirit.
Torah study will begin at 10 and end at 11 with kaddish. All are welcome!
