Conversation with Transgender Advocate, Mimi Lemay - author of "What We Will Become" will speak about her family's journey in affirming the gender of their son, Jacob, and her own journey away from the ultra-orthodox community.

MIMI LEMAY is an author, advocate for transgender rights and a member of Human Rights Campaign’s Parents for Transgender Equality Council. Her essay, A Letter to My Son Jacob on his 5thBirthday went viral in 2015, followed by the NBC Nightly News segment: Jacob's Journey: Life as a Transgender 5-Year-Old, which earned the title of the network's most viewed segment on social media. Mimi and the entire Lemay family continue to educate and advocate for gender-diverse youth, fighting for passage of equality laws in MA and across the nation. Her critically acclaimed memoir, What We Will Become: A Mother, A Son and A Journey of Transformation, was a finalist for 2020Massachusetts Book Awards. Mimi is a 2020 Commonwealth Heroine, an award granted by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. She holds a Masters in Law & Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
