A great opportunity to hear an inspiring speaker while connecting with our neighbors at Theodore Parker Church. HBT members are invited to join them.
Speaker Rev. Rahsaan Hall
Annual Theodore Parker Church Lecture
Sunday March 26, 2:00 p.m.
Event address: 1859 Centre St., West Roxbury, MA and on Zoom
"Policing Black Communities, 1854 - 2023: Changing the Public Safety Narratives."
Rev. Hall ran in 2022 for District Attorney in Plymouth County to bring a progressive policy perspective to the position, though unfortunately did not win. A former prosecutor and civil rights attorney, he led the ACLU campaign "What a Difference a DA Makes" that focused attention on the impact DAs can make on the criminal justice system. That campaign contributed to attention on the Suffolk County DA race that resulted in the election of Rachel Rollins.
The Theodore Parker Lectures honor the legacy of the Rev. Theodore Parker, 19th century minister, abolitionist, theologian, and bold proponent of social justice. The annual lectures feature talks by clerics, theologians, or activists whose work reflects Rev. Parker's drive to bend the arc of the moral universe toward justice.
Rev. Hall's Linked In profile.....
"Providing experienced racial justice and criminal law reform advocacy focusing on community engagement, policy advocacy and racial equity."
Q & A follows the presentation and a reception will be held in the TPC parish hall. We invite you to join us!
