This week is HIAS Refugee Shabbat and it is also Shabbat Shira, the Sabbath of Song!

This week's Torah reading includes the evocative chanting of Moses and Miriam's Song at the Sea, a very ancient poem celebrating the crossing of the Red Sea,that stands out in the writing of the Torah scroll itself. Special melodies will enhance our prayers throughout the service.

Ruth Lederman will pick up on the theme of leaving Egypt with her account of the Afghan family that HBT and Congregation Dorshei Tzedek have co-sponsored as they seek asylum in Massachusetts.
